Portrait Information
Pet portraits are painted from the photograph of your choice; it is important to send at least one good-quality (high resolution) photograph that can be enlarged so I can capture your pet's unique features. Most portraits are of the head and shoulders, capturing the character of each animal through its eyes and expression.
Photography tips:
* Use a telephoto lens if you have one, you will get a better photo by being further away and zooming in on your pet. This allows your pet to relax and exhibit it's natural expression instead of watching what you are doing.
* It is best to use natural light, outside in the morning or afternoon and days without too much sun. Bright sunlight can produce difficult shadows and a camera flash tends to wash out the animal.
*As you're choosing the photograph you'd like painted, keep the following in mind: Do you want your pet's mouth open or closed? Looking straight at you or focused on something else?
* Take a lot of pictures so you find a pose that you like, also send me a close-up of their eyes so I can accurately reflect the eye color.
* If this is a memorial portrait, send me the best picture that you have to for me to review

If you live in the Anchorage area and you can't seem to get a good photograph, I would be happy to come over and take pictures of your pet for a small fee.

Paintings take about 2-3 weeks from start to finish, if you need your order completed by a specific date just let me know. Don't forget to send me your high quality photographs and feel free to ask questions or request more information.

This portrait was painted with a contrasting background.
The pheasant in the dogs mouth was a little harder to see in the image, so it was enhanced in the painting.
